Caswell Lake · Alaska
A warm, locally hosted cabin in the woods—close enough for a Talkeetna day, peaceful enough to forget the clock.
Your Alaska home base
Large windows, pale wood, and a crackling stove give the cabin its easy rhythm. Cook breakfast, walk toward the lake, wander Talkeetna, then come home to cedar heat and a sky that stays interesting.
Nick and the MatSu Compass team live nearby. You get privacy when you want it, and local answers when Alaska changes the plan.
New at the cabinThe warm-up
Settle into the custom cedar sauna after a trail day, a winter drive, or simply because the snow is falling. Heated tile underfoot keeps the ritual comfortable from the first step.

Your dates are checked against Airbnb, Vrbo, and our direct calendar before secure Square checkout opens.
Direct savings apply across the complete pre-tax stay and are shown before payment. The lodging/bed tax appears separately and applies to discounted accommodation rent. Separately priced extras and refundable deposits stay outside the bed-tax base.

We live nearby and manage the cabin ourselves. The goal is simple: give you a comfortable base, plenty of privacy, and a real local to call when you want the better route, the quieter trail, or a weather reality check.

Good to know
Check-in is after 3:00 PM and checkout is before 11:00 AM. The exact location is shared after booking.
The cabin is in the quiet Caswell Lake area, roughly 30 minutes from Talkeetna under normal conditions. Alaska drive times vary with weather and your destination in town.
Snow and icy roads are part of the experience. AWD or 4WD is strongly recommended in winter, and we send current arrival guidance before check-in.
Yes—up to two pets per stay. Selecting one or two pets adds one standard $50 nonrefundable pet fee for the complete stay; the final quote applies the same direct-booking discount and identifies the resulting nonrefundable amount actually paid. Qualifying service animals are not pets and do not incur the fee or count toward the pet limit.
Submit a request through your secure reservation portal or by email at least 48 hours before the scheduled 3:00 PM check-in, Alaska time, for a refund of the eligible amount, excluding only the disclosed pet-fee amount actually paid after direct-booking savings, minus a documented cancellation fee equal to the actual Square processing cost charged to the host and not returned. A request is effective when the host confirms it in writing. Later refunds are at the owner’s discretion.
Choose dates and review the complete stay price. We recheck Airbnb, Vrbo, and the direct calendar before opening secure Square checkout; the dates are confirmed only after verified payment.
The exact address is shared after confirmation. The keypad code and arrival instructions are sent shortly before check-in once all booking steps are complete.
Care for the cabin
The goal is a relaxed visit and a cabin that stays welcoming for the next guest. Full approved terms are provided before payment.
Maximum occupancy is 4 registered overnight guests. Check-in is after 3:00 PM and checkout is by 11:00 AM unless another time is approved in writing.
Enjoy the kitchen, coffee, cookware, and utensils. Before departure, please load used dishes and start the dishwasher on its 1-hour cycle.
Keep the BBQ at least 5 feet from the cabin and never use it inside or in the garage. Never leave the stove or fire pit unattended, and fully extinguish every fire.
Set the living-room heater back to 60°F at checkout. The cabin has a 50-gallon water heater; avoid heavy hot-water use for 1–2 hours before a long bath.
The washer and dryer are available, with soap in the nearby closet. Please do not wash sheets or towels before checkout—we take care of them.
Maximum two pets per stay. One $50 nonrefundable fee applies per stay whether you bring one or two pets. Qualifying service animals are not charged or counted as pets. Clean up promptly, supervise animals, and prevent damage to the cabin.
Smoking and vaping, including marijuana and e-cigarettes, are prohibited inside the cabin and garage and within 20 feet of entrances, openable windows, and air intakes.
Parties, events, commercial photography, and filming require the owner’s prior written approval. Approval does not waive the four-person overnight limit or replace required permits.
